Sirach 2:10

Look at the people from long ago and see: Who trusted in the Lord and was put to shame? Or who remained firm in godly fear and was left behind? Or who called upon the Lord, and the Lord overlooked him?
Ye that fear the Lord, love him, and your hearts shall be enlightened.
Think back to the ancient generations and consider this: has the Lord ever disappointed anyone who put his hope in him? Has the Lord ever abandoned anyone who held him in constant reverence? Has the Lord ever ignored anyone who prayed to him?
Consider the generations long past and see: has anyone trusted in the Lord and been disappointed? Has anyone persevered in his fear and been forsaken? has anyone called upon him and been ignored?
Recall the former generations and reflect: has anyone who trusted in the Lord ever been disappointed? Has anyone who persevered in fear of the Lord ever been forsaken, or has anyone who called upon him been ignored?
Consider the generations of old and see: has anyone trusted in the Lord and been disappointed? Or has anyone persevered in the fear of the Lord and been forsaken? Or has anyone called upon him and been neglected?

Ye that dread the Lord, love him, and your hearts shall be lightened or enlightened. Sons, behold ye the nations of men, and know ye, that no man hoped in the Lord, and was shamed (or was confounded); none dwelled [or abode still] in his behests (or in his commandments), and was forsaken; either who inwardly called him, and he despised him?
